We first met Kerri Lewis a little over three years ago when she starting coming to our breastfeeding support group with her first son, Blake.
She became a Mother’s Haven “regular” during those first months with her new baby boy.
Kerri is a warm hearted, wonderful woman who has spent her career caring for others. She is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at KMC and over the years has helped hundreds of children.
Two months ago, Kerri reappeared at Mother's Haven. We had not seen her in a while and it was exciting to see her sporting a 7 month pregnant belly. As we spilled over with congratulations for her second child she started to cry.
Kerri shared with us that her husband, 36 year old Sean Lewis, a physical therapist at KMC, had an inoperable type of thyroid cancer. The baby was due in 2 months and they were praying that Sean would be alive to see his son born. Unfortunately, eight days later, Sean passed away.
We have been keeping pretty close tabs on Kerri and doing all we can to offer her love and support. The medical bills have really taken their toll and Kerri could use some help. Many of you have already called, asking what you can do to support Kerri.
We put our heads together and created a few ways for all of us to do just that. Those three options are listed below.
It is always inspiring to see the sisterhood that naturally connects moms. To watch moms rising to the occasion to help other moms in need, even ones they do not know, is an amazing experience.
We thank you and hope this will help ease some of Kerri's financial stress. Her son Sean Braden Lewis was born October 24th, 2009.
